Diagnosis of true aneurysms of subclavian and axillary arteries and our principles of surgical approach

چکیده
Results All the patients underwent selective peripheral arteriography, colored Doppler ultrasound and contrasted thoracoabdominal computed tomography (CT). All the patients were operated on under general anesthesia. Subclavicular approach was preferred except for the case operated on for pseudoaneurysm repair. In this particular case, supraclavicular approach was used for the 1st operation and supraclavicular incision plus a partial median sternotomy for the 2nd. Generally, if the calibration of the saphenous vein graft was appropriate for the arterial segment, this venous graft was used. Otherwise, an artificial graft was interposed. If acute ischemia was coexistent, brachial embolectomy was also performed.

Our incision types of choice for surgical treatment of true aneurysms of subclavian and axillary arteries
Background Subclavian and axillary arteries true aneurysms are rarely seen. The best incision for surgical approach is median sternotomy for intrathoracic right subclavian artery aneurysm, left thoracotomy for intrathoracic left subclavian artery aneurysm and supraclavicular incision for extrathoracic ones. Many surgeons approaches as subclavicular incision, subclavicular incision extending to ...

Methods Eight patients that were operated on between February 1998 and December 2007 due to true aneurysms of the subclavian and axillary arteries were examined retrospectively in terms of clinical and perioperative parameters. Median age of the patients was 58 (38-73). Six of them were male (75%). Six patients had axillary and 2 patients had subclavian artery aneurysms. : Postoperative intubat...
متن کاملOur graft choice for surgical treatment of true aneurysms of subclavian and axillary arteries
Results One patient with subclavian artery aneurysm underwent resection of the aneurysm and subclavian-axillary bypass surgery with brachial embolectomy using a polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) graft; whereas the other patient underwent resection of the aneurysm and subclavian-axillary bypass surgery with saphenous vein graft. In addition to resection of the aneurysm, three out of 6 patients with...
متن کاملThe Case Report of Variation in Subclavian Branches
The Subclavian artery is a major branch of the Aorta. In the left the subclavian artery arises from aortic arch, and in the right it arises from the Brachiocephalic trunk This artery passes from the subclavian groove on the first rib and continues as Axillary artery. The Subclavian artery has several branches that supply chest wall, Thyroid gland and cervical region. Several variations about th...
متن کاملAnatomical Study of Subclavian Artery and Its Branches
Background: The branches of right and left subclavian arteries are important in conducting of blood to spinal cord, posterior cranial fossa, base of the neck, thyroid gland, wall of the thorax and abdomen. The routine use of internal thoracic artery as a conduit in coronary artery bypass grafting surgery requires appreciation of the anatomical variations of these vessels. So far, there is not a...
